ANNALAKSHMI Majority of the population of our country are so poor that they cannot hope to get two square meals a day. While we condemn child labour, we forget that most parents have no other choice than sending their children to work so that the family can escape starvation.As a result so many children are sent even to far away places to earn; many children also run away from home and end up as antisocial elements. 
Nevertheless several poor parents send their children to school hoping for a better future for them. In Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan 1200 children hail from nearby villages. To our consternation we found that many of them do not eat lunch due to poverty. Deeply distressed by this, Mr. Vidyakar identified, after proper investigation, 50 deserving children and began providing lunch for them under "Annalakshmi" scheme. This is only the beginning. More children will be added eventually. Initially they were fed in the shades of trees, even as construction was begun for a shelter; now the 'Annalakshmi Lunch Home" too is ready so that the children can enjoy their lunch in comfort. This hall can accommodate 100 children. It costs per day Rs. 500/- to feed the 50 children. Would you kind hearted donors like to sponsor this scheme now and then? A donation of Rs. 5000.- can take care of the chileren's lunch for 10 days. Pasamalargal
