Gokulam Children’s Village

This campus is for children who are attending school.  These children are between the age group of 5 to 15 years.  They live in a homely atmosphere and there are 18 houses. 

Each house shelters 15 children and a house mother.Currently there is provision for 18 individual family units, but there is a need to have more such family units.  All the houses are having basic facilities apart from personal attention.  They also have a separate spacious dining hall, indoor games, multipurpose hall where they can practice yoga, meditation and view television programs etc.  They also have library and reading facilities.

This campus and concept is based on international S.O.S children’s village and it provides personalized care and attention for the overall development of the children.

There are several success stories.  Children who are picked up as destitutes and orphans from the streets have successfully come out with flying colors.  Many children after their education have taken up employment and are leading independent lives.  More than 100 boys have taken up independent life, 20 girls are married and settled with their husbands.

1. Sharada picked up from the street has completed her education and now works along with tiny infants providing love and care.

2. Santhana Lakshmi lost her parents and was admitted along with her sister at the age of three, she completed her education and now works along with sick and dying people as a nurse.

3. Sumitha was a victim of sexual abuse and was picked up from the streets.  She underwent treatment and was provided with emotional reassurance and presently she is studying 3^rd standard.  Her smiles can speak volumes of care and compassion provided by the mothers.

4. Arunthathi presently studying in 1^st standard has lot of dreams.  She loves people and values friendship.
