Sumaithangi

This is an information guidance and counseling center for women in distress.  In our Society even though woman take an active role, they are being ill treated, exploited, sexually abused and finally they seek support from organizations.

Essentially for women in distress. Guidance and counseling are provided in order to enable them overcome their psychological stress and where possible be reunited to their families. Necessary legal and medical assistance are also provided free of cost. At any given point of time there are around 50 deserted women in this centre. A tailoring unit attached to this centre provides training, with a view to making them self reliant.

Here at Sumaithangi they are given counseling and a short stay is also provided.  They can sort our their problems and consolation are being extended so that they can lead a healthy family life.

Ms.Pushpa was a victim of dowry harassment and her husband poured kerosene on her and lit her.  She was found in a dying condition in Government Hospital.  She had no place to go.  Now she has joined Sumaithangi and she also underwent couple of plastic surgeries.  She is turning out to be a good volunteer for many sick and dying persons.

Ms. Suguna was a victim of rape and sexual abuse, she has now a child and she has no place to go until she found our place.  She was given training in the field of tailoring and now she lives independently on her own and the child is attending school.
