Dignity Home

Residential rehabilitation center for the mentally sick persons (males) These persons are being rescued from the streets in a bad shape. Most of them do not have family support and have turned out to be chronic mentally ill persons. 300 such persons are under our care at dignity home.

Our observations reveal that most of them are not able to recollect their background details. Some of them are dumped here deliberately by their relatives coming from far off states up North.  These unfortunate victims undergo painful life on the streets, some are ill treated by sadists; some undergo police torture, some commit suicide, some even die of starvation, as they do not know how to beg. They fall victims to accidents also.

We have rescued and treated successfully a few psychic maniacs who show violent behaviour who were kept chained for decades together. Methodical treatment with lot of compassion resulted in their union with the families to lead a normal life.

Shaktivelu,22 years old mentally sick person was pelted with stones and cruelly treated by a mob. He was rescued, treated and handed over to his family.

Parvindar Singh:  30 yrs old, was almost dead when we found him with gangrene foot. He was rescued and treated and  is in the process of rehabilitation.

Adam Pandari:  42 years old rescued him near Poona. He was kept chained to a tree for 15 years for his violent behaviour. After 11/2 years treatment he is happy to be back with his family members to lead a normal life. A noteworthy point in this case is, that qualified doctors had given up any hope of curing Pandari's illness.

Kaliappan was also chained to a tree in a forest for about 15 years. A prolonged treatment resulted in his getting cured and he is able to help others in our center.

Basavaraj: Chained and confined to a small room Basavaraj was suffering for 14 years by the cruel treatment meted out to him by his relatives. A media report helped us to rescue him. Presently he is one of our best helpers in dignity home.
