Reception home for abandoned/discarded infants. Newborn babies are being abandoned for two reasons. Firstly the female babies are considered as a burden to a family especially among the lower income group, secondly unwed mothers are not accepted by the society and considered as taboo.
On receiving message, mainly over phone by public/hospitals/police about an abandoned baby our volunteers rush to the spot and rescue the baby. Baby thus rescued will be thoroughly checked in hospital and if necessary hospital care will be given before bringing to Thulir. The caregivers in Thulir are specially trained to take care of new born and premature babies. On an average two babies are admitted per month. Babies up to the age of six months are being cared here. Seven volunteers work round the clock to take care of the babies.
